The Auteur: Antoni Tudisco Delivers Digital Style Landmark with Snoop Dogg and Philipp Plein
Antoni Tudisco is digital style’s first true auteur.
We’ve had our 🧐 eye 🧐 on him since we launched Rumfoords, as has anyone who’s following digital style and virtual fashion.
Tudisco creates not only the most stylish and aggressively fun-loving digital streetwear in the history of the medium but he also makes our favorite 3D worlds and characters, so lifelike and tactile you can feel them.
He sets the bar right now for everything digital style and virtual luxury.
So it was with keen interest that we tuned in this past Sunday to watch Tudisco’s eight-minute film starring Snoop Dogg to showcase Philipp Plein’s Fall 2021 Ready-to-Wear Collection.
A landmark event for digital style and virtual fashion, the film itself was Plein’s show for the season, seeing the physical clothing designer hand over the reigns for his presentation to an artist who works in 3D.
The film is an ecstatic celebration of Tudisco’s aesthetic, playing out like a rollercoaster ride straight to the heights and depths of the artist’s dreams, fantasies and nightmares.
Beginning with a real-life Snoop Dogg in the studio, the West Coast hip hop icon blows smoke into the camera, sending the viewer into a phantasmagoric trip through Tudisco-world.
A booty-shaking gorilla draped in a digital fur coat. Disembodied breakdancers wearing puffers next to a matching Lambo. A Godzilla-sized dancer made entirely of shoes dances on a surface of liquid metal ripped straight from Terminator 2.
These are just a handful of the hallucinatory visions bombarding the viewer one after the other at a hyper-fast pace.
It’s a surreal, giddy show, and both Plein and Tudisco clearly enjoyed bringing fans something wickedly fun.
“After this terrible period we are preparing for a new time,” Plein told Vogue. We are hoping that when this collection comes out we will have things under control again, and that after a year when it’s been impossible, people will be ready to have fun again.”
There’s also a special collection of Phillip Plein x Antoni Tudisco physical products, including hoodies and tees with Tudisco’s iconic imagery on them.
Tudisco has previously worked with Rumfoords favorite Tillavision on a visualizer for the late great Pop Smoke, and another Rumfoords favorite Dingyun Zhang.
